about

On his debut album Melt, Stevie R brought us the sounds of rebetronica, his very own fusion of the rebetiko music he was raised on during his childhood in Greece with the latest in forward-looking off kilter house and techno music.

Allying himself with the Egyptian poet and glitch producer CERPINTXT and Turkish singer/songwriter Djanan Turan, he delivered a wonderful LP. Now, for Part II of the album Editions, he teams up with three heavyweights to deliver yet more heat with their reworks of one of the album's standout tracks, Red Lemon.

First up, Me Me Me hero Man Power breaks down the original's groove to its bare naked acid line and rebuilds it with a crushing analog hook, insanely hooky timpani and a host of subtle trippy textures.

Osunlade joins the party in his Yoruba Soul guise to offer a driving and sensual revision that emphasises a crunchy distorted arp line. Finally, Counterchange bossman Ed Davenport delivers a thumping twist of the original that’s equal parts pneumatic and aquatic.

All three reworks hit the spot and are accompanied by the original to round off the package. With Melt {The Editions}: Part II, Chapter 24 mark the start of the decade and their five year anniversary with a memorable EP from one of their core artists.
